Mommy's birthday!

Once upon a time it was Mommy's birthday on Feb. 13th. We went to the butterfly room at the science museum and looked at the butterflies together.

We saw lots of them including this big creepy one!

It was very exciting!!!

One time a lady bug was on me. We were best friends.

And then this happened.

Whoa.

Later we went home and very carefully put birthday stickers on Mommy's face ...

... and told her "happy birthday!"

Talkin'

So, Ella sure is a talker now-a-days. She talks all over the place, sometimes yammering about some gibberish, but most of the time she speaks very clearly and is able to let you know exactly what she wants you to know. She'll tell you stories about what she did that day or what she wants you to do right now. She might say "Science Museum ... blub blub ... WOW! ... Mommy ... grapes!" if she went to the science museum with Mommy that day and saw an exciting fish and had grapes, for example. Or she might say "Book ... Hop Pop ... Daddy ... read it ... lap ... right there," if she wants to read Hop on Pop in Daddy's lap right here.

Recently we've been working on pronouns, which are hard because they change depending on whose talking. For example, if she wanted to be picked up she might say "UP! UP!" and I would ask, "Do you want me to carry you?" and she would respond in the affirmative, "Carry you!" But more recently her mother taught her to say, "carry ME!" which she now says with GREAT emphasis. And this lesson has trickled down to other parts of her vocabulary (with varied success). For example, if you've just done her some service (such as wipe her nose) she now says, "thank you-ME!" And if you say "I love you," she will also say "I love you" (which is the best thing ever!), but is also likely to say with even greater feeling, "I love ME!"

But enough talk. Here's a little something of what you're all really here for:

Ella also loves Cookie Monster and Daddy.
